Yuletide: Segun Okanlawon Dazzles Ibarapa Communities With Christmas Gifts, Sporting Progs, Splashes Prizes(PHOTOS).

The Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation (OOF) rounded off her 2021 end-of-the-year program with Ibarapa Marathon Race, Ibarapa Unity Cup final match and presentation of prizes to winners in each of the competitions. The grand finale of the events held at Ayelogun Grammar School, Idere, OOF newsletter read.

“No less than 150 male and female athletes participated in the 19km marathon race, from Igangan Roundabout to Baptist High School, Ayete”, the newsletter revealed.

It continued,”The winner of the marathon race for the male category, Adelakun Adesola (from Idere) who finished the 19km race within 73 minutes (1 hour, 13 minutes). In the female category, Makinde Maisarat (from Tapa) came first, finishing the race within 94 minutes (1 hour, 34 minutes). It is noteworthy that she won the female marathon race in 2020 too.

“Muibudeen Sheriff (Tapa) and Raheem Samad (Igboora) came second and third, respectively in the male category of the marathon race. For the female category, Okesola Fowomola (Igboora) and Odebode Jumoke (Eruwa) were the runner-up and 2nd runner-up, respectively.

“The third-place in the Ibarapa Unity Cup held between Okanlawon FC and Igboora Super Babes with the former defeating the latter on a goal to nil.

“Lanlate FC defeated Igangan United FC on a goal to nil to emerge champions of the 2021 Ibarapa Unity Cup. The victory made Lanlate champions of the competition for two consecutive years, having won it in 2020.

“The cash prizes for the winners in the competitions are as follows; Ibarapa Unity Cup: 1st Position – N200,000, 2nd Position – N150,000, 3rd Position – N100,000, 4th Position – N50,000 and 5th-8th Position – N20,000.

“Marathon Race for males and females: 1st Position – N100,000, 2nd Position – N70,000, 3rd Position – N50,000 and 4th -10th Position – N5,000.

“African Board Game (Ayo Olopon) for males and females: 1st Position – N45,000, 2nd Position – N25,000, and 3rd Position – N15,000. All other participants were rewarded with a tokens.

“Draught for males: 1st Position – N45,000, 2nd Position – N25,000, and 3rd Position – N15,000. All other participants were rewarded with a tokens.

“We continued the distribution of Christmas Hampers today, with the distribution of food items to over 200 widows, widowers, and aged people in Tapa and Ayete communities at African Primary School, Ayete. The hampers were distributed to residents of Idere and Igangan at Femadex Royal Garden and A.U.D School II, Igangan respectively on Thursday, December, 23rd”.

“The initiative continued at Methodist Grammar School, Igboora (for Igboora residents) on Saturday, December 25th, while the schedule for Lanlate and Eruwa were also done.

“We are grateful to the participants in all the competitions. We are happy that they put in their best for the competitions. More importantly, we appreciate all the spectators, supporters and fans who showed immense support and solidarity during the competitions. Many people rode their bikes, volunteered to control traffic from Igangan to Ayete. That was amazing, and we are most grateful”, it further stated.

“The entire OOF family appreciates all our fathers, mothers and friends for the trust reposed in us over the years. Through your prayers and continued support, we look forward to doing more in coming years.

The updated OOF newsletter also stated,”Re: Hampers distribution. We are glad to announce that we have successfully distributed all hampers across all Ibarapa communities. Yesterday, we were able to serve Igboora, Eruwa, and Lanlate.
“We are glad to witness such massive turnout and cooperation by the people and we are glad as well to have successfully fulfilled our promises.

“We promise to improve on our activities, benefits, and programs to match your expectations of us. We have also recorded all responses on the form as to how better we can improve lives in our various communities.

In his appreciation message, the Engineering Luminary and Notable Philanthropist, Engineer Olusegun Okanlawon stated that,”I am writing to express my profound gratitude to God and to all the people who have made the development impact work of the Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation(OOF) possible. This is a special thank you to everyone who is (or who has been) a part of our work.

Founder of The Foundation, Engr Okanlawon continued,”Since its founding in 2018, OOF has come a long way because we have been blessed with the gift of men and women who gladly contribute (volunteer) their time, energy, wisdom, etc. to make our activities and events successful. I am proud of the privilege to be associated with these individuals. And I remain grateful that they shared part of their lives with us in this cause.

“Concerning the recently concluded 2021 OOF End of the Year programs, I am thankful to everyone who helped make them successful”, he lauded.

“We had a compact team of volunteers. Even though we extended our events to include distribution of hampers, the team made the programs flawless.

“Particularly, I would like to thank the local organizing committees for the great work that went into hosting the ayo olopon, draught, football and marathon competitions. Ibarapa is blessed having people like you sir/ma.

“I want to appreciate the referees, coaches, the football association, footballers, athletes, players of ayo and draught, and the teeming fans/supporters for fostering unity in Ibarapa through the competitions.

“I appreciate the security personnel who stood with us, maintaining order throughout the events. I am grateful to our media team, both in-house and our partners, for giving great visibility to the events.

“I appreciate my friends turned brothers/sisters who have been supporting me and the Foundation in diverse ways. Very few of them are seen publicly while most of them contribute behind the scenes. You guys know yourselves; many thanks to you! My family has been so amazing”, Okanlawon extolled.

“I thank my dear wife and my darling children for cheerfully ‘sharing me’ with the world. Thank you for holding forth always”, he adored.

“I am grateful to my siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles etc. for their unrelenting support of OOF.
