YWC : Yoruba Koya Movement in Europe Commends Otunba Deji Osibogun’s Verdict
The leadership of Yoruba Koya in Europe and the United Kingdom has commended the decision of Otunba Deji Osibogun to bow out as the substantive Organising Secretary of the Yoruba World Congress (YWC), after working meritoriously for the establishment of the group including the emergence of the Leader, Prof. Emeritus Banji Akintoye as the President-General. This is contained in a news release issued by Mr Olamide Olasupo, the
Director of Media and Publicity, Yoruba Ko’ya Movement, Europe.
In his resignation letter to the YWC leadership, the Convener of Yoruba Koya Movement for Leadership and Development, Otunba Deji Osibogun reiterated that he will continue to contribute his quota to the advancement of Yoruba Nation. He stressed that his decision is not in any way to disintegrate the Yoruba World Congress as it could be misinterpreted by mischief-makers.
“This positive decision would not in any way deter me from continuing to contribute to the progress of Yoruba land”, he said.
He added that it is about time to fully concentrate on Yoruba Ko’ya Movement as a fundamental and inseparable part of the Yoruba World Congress working towards the actualisation of the Yoruba nation. “With so many of our youths unemployed, there is a need to work with the people and to immediately take drastic steps against the looming food crisis likely to occur in Yoruba land as a result of COVID-19 pandemic”, he stated.
While speaking with the Executives of the Yoruba Ko’ya in Europe and the UK, he charged the group to align their aspirations with the common goal of the Movement and to dispel any rumour that may arise out of his positive decision to re-strategize. He emphasised that his exit from the Yoruba World Congress will allow him to devote his time and energy toward the people that will constitute the emerging Yoruba nation.
According to Otunba Deji Osibogun, “It’s time for us to re-orientate our youths, it’s time for us to begin to empower them, it’s time for us to assist our farmers, it’s time for us to get our hunters and traders well aligned with modern trends.”
“If we do this, we’ll be able to survive long after that (the pandemic). And when the dream of the new Yoruba nation now comes into reality, then we shall have a new crop of hands that are hardworking, that are diligent, that are honest and that are sincere to the development of the Yoruba land,” Deji Osibogun stated .
