Investiture: Rotary Club of Ibadan-Oritamefa Gets New President, Inducts Members, Awards Personalities.

It was a day filled with funfair as the Rotary Club of Ibadan-Oritamefa held her annual fundraising and investiture ceremony of Rotarian Adeniyi Abiodun Adeoti as the 7th President of the Club, oyomind.com reported.

The event held on Saturday August 21 at Lalekan Aare Hall, Government College Ibadan was graced by distinguished personalities such as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Professor Babatunde Ekanola who was the Keynote Speaker, CEO/MD Lodabs Nigeria Limited, Chief Mrs. Omolola O. Dada as Mother of the day, Engineer Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Chairman of the Occasion, Former National Assembly member, Senator Rilwan Adesoji, Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Hon. Moses Oluwatoyin Fayinka, Former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matter, Hon. Bimbo Kolade, among others.

Professor Ekanola in his keynote address urged Nigerians generally to be responsible and take good care of their health at this very height of COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is important to generally advise and categorically state that, COVID-19 is very devastating and dangerous for human health. The efforts we are to invest in taking preventive measures are more lesser than the stress to go through if contracted, and the level of its threatening to life.”

“We must go out with all our defense tools like face mask, face shield, hand sanitizer, consistent washing of hand and many other necessary actions.”

“COVID-19 is killing and we should take care of our health by continually boosting our immune system to guide against any attack on our health system.”

The newly inaugurated President, Rotarian Adeoti in his acceptance speech appreciated his God, family, friends, past presidents, and members of the club for their impact in one way or the other and the opportunity given for him to serve, having served in leadership positions of different organizations.

“Permit me to specially recognize my biological parents (Late High Chief and Princess Adeoti), the Catholic Church, and Government College Ibadan for impacting the needed motto of learning to serve in me right from my formation age.”

“I also appreciate all past presidents and dynamic members of this great club for giving this opportunity and privilege to serve Rotary in a new dimension at this critical period of our roles towards humanity. I have had privileges to serve several organizations in leadership positions which cut across my professional callings, community, and association. To me, it can only be God Almighty to elevate whoever pleases him” he said.

Adeoti who tagged the theme for the year 2021/2022 “Serve to Change Loves” further enjoined members of the club to join hands with him to collectively raise the bar of the leadership of the club.

“Today’s ceremony and by extension throughout this Rotary year is not about ME but US, our club’s past achievements in the last six years has no doubt placed a burden on the current leadership of the club to surpass that achievement, hence, my call that all hands must be at work with our identified partners at far and near, as I stand here to pledge that we are poised to leave the stage better than we met it.”

Sen. Soji Akanbi in his statement while appraising the keynote speaker and the Rotary Club of Ibadan-Oritamefa lauded humanitarian stance of the rotary members globally and that, with Rotary Club as an organization, the world is sure to be charitable and helping the humanity is a task of all.

“I want to thank my very dear brother and Acting Vice Chancellor of the prestigious Premier University of Ibadan for his wonderful presentation center on our health care in the face of pandemic. As he rightly advised, let’s all take responsible for pur health and enlighten others to as well.”

Several awards of recognition were given to individuals who have over time proven to be distinguished in humanitarian services and be of utmost support the course of Rotary Club among which are Engr. Joseph Tegbe, Alhaji Akeem Bello PHF, Hon. Moses Oluwatoyin Fayinka, Idea Konsult Limited, Pastor C.A.B. Adelson.

Others include, Orchard Hotel, Richland Hotel, World Lilies Event Place, Nonsuch Medicare Ltd, Rotn. Biola Ogunbanwo PHF, Rotn. Veronica Akpokodje, Rotn. Emughoke Emonena Solotan, Rotn. Dayo Odetola and Rotn. Adewale Adesokan.

The club also inducted new members among which are the publisher of The Trialblazer News, Rotn. Akintunde Yusuf Akinloye, Omorowe-Nwune Blessing, Ayo Daood Ojelade, Aigboka Caroline, Omokolawole Olubukola Aledare

Also at the program is the donation and presentation of blood pressure and testing machines, bedsheets & pillow case,chairs and tables to Oyo State Primary Health Center at Mokola, lbadan, and the unveiling of the Public lmage project of vehicular branding to showcase the great efforts of Rotary in keeping Polio@Zero.

“Other projects executed since assumption of office on 1st of July 2021 are; full Payment of Rotary International District due, an Evening With our past presidents and ambassadors of the club, Hepatitis project of the test, and Vaccination of people, and full sponsorship of 7 participants to Rotary Youth Leadership Training.

The Rotary Club founded in 1905 by Paul Harris is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, promote ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
