Prof Adeolu Akande, A Blend of Amiability and Humanity AND A CLOSER PICTURE.
He was my teacher in the University about 22 years ago but my contact and appreciation of him remains at a distance.
Because of his erudition as a professor of Political
Science in the prestigious University of Ibadan and a legal luminary, there has never been a time since 2003 that his name will not be up for one National assignment or the other. He has always put his versatility in the service of the nation.
Each political regime has a job ready for him from the time he served the then Vice President of the Nation, Alh Atiku Abubakar till now that he is the Chairman of Nigeria Communications Commission(NCC), I have never gotten the closed feeling of his amiablility and humanity until few hours ago.
I was privileged to meet him directly outside classroom as his former student after 22 years of graduation from University of Ibadan in company of few others some hours ago.
His good nature radiates in the members of his household. We were met with traditional greeting like a regular caller in the house by the first woman we met on entering, as the security officer was respectfully conducting us to our meeting point .
We were made comfortable at the meeting point and before we could finish taking our seats, the one instructed to make us feel at home has flooded our table with table water and healthy drinks .
He dazzled me with his least formality with which the appointment was secured and humility that accompanied apology for a day shift in the arrangement. The good nature and quality nurture worked harmoniously in Prof ADEOLU AKANDE.
He was a very fantastic listener. He never interjected nor interrupted as he was putting down major points of discussion intermittently. He glittered the meeting with his occasional smile that exposed his gap tooth that made glow the handsomeness oozing out of him.
The attention he gave to the company I joined to his house was spectacular. The understanding, the guide, and swiftness of his positive responses has never been experienced before from any public officials of his caliber.
This was a subject of discussion later and I was very proud of him as my former teacher and public official from my state.
He demonstrated accessibility, hospitality and receptability as he fed his household and aides with menu of humility and humanity. They all exhibited rare omoluabi and bibiire of balanced quantum.
The goodness of a man is you secure happiness whenever you meet him. I am happy to meet Prof ADEOLU AKANDE at a closer distance
