Stop Siphoning LG Funds, Sulaiman Abese Cautions Caretaker Chairmen, NULGE

The Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso Central LCDA, Barrister Daud Sulaiman Abese has disclosed that the members of Oyo State ALGON are not out to disrupt the smooth running of governance in Oyo State nor to distract the state government led by Engr Seyi Makinde.

Barrister Sulaiman while speaking on a radio programme recently monitored by “Africano trumpeters” also said that it is important for Governor Makinde to realise the fact that he is not a governor for PDP members alone but father of all indigenes and residents of Oyo State, hence, the need to be magnanimous and accommodating .

He stated that in the best interests of Oyo State and its people, ALGON is ready to make Oyo State great again.

The Executive Chairman explained that the association holds no ill feelings against the members of NULGE because they are confused of whom to work with whether the caretaker chairmen or elected chairmen, but the only reservations about their attitudes is the continual withdrawal of council’s money by the caretaker chairmen in connivance with some NULGE members.

He disclosed that for instance, withdrawals have been made from the accounts of Lagelu Local Government, Are Latosa Local Council, Ibadan North East Local Government, Ibadan East Local Council and this is also going on concurrently in almost all the Local Government Areas while refurbished vehicles left by the elected chairmen have been auctioned by the caretaker chairmen.

Barrister Sulaiman said further that the members of ALGON in Oyo state are interested in strengthening the local government administration and the association will not do anything against the rule of law and that they will not subscribe to paying off of the elected council officials by the governor as that is amount to wasting of state resources.

He added that no executive power can triumph over the majesty of the rule of law as it is the foundation upon which democracy is built adding that in the face of law the elected chairmen are the legal occupants of the local government areas and that is the reality and supremacy of the law over the ruled and the rulers , he concludes .
