2023: Oyo APC Chair, Hon Omodewu Meets Party’s Youth Stakeholders, Opinion Molders(PHOTOS).

Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC) under the leadership of Honourable Isaac Omodewu has on Wednesday, July 6 held an extraordinary meeting with the party’s youth stakeholders and opinion-molders at the permanent Secretariat, of Oyo APC, at Oke Ado, Ibadan.

The meeting with APC youths, drawn across the state, is part of Hon Omodewu’s efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2023 General Election.

Hon. Omodewu commended APC youth for their relentless efforts, selfless service and immense contributions that have made Oyo APC great and elevated it to the enviable heights. He encouraged them to always collaborate with the party’s leadership, most importantly, to dislodge ruling People’s Democratic Party(PDP) and enthrone pro people governance in the state, come 2023.

While addressing the youth, Omodewu saluted their courage and noted that,”More than ever before, we want everyone to be participating in the party’s affairs at all levels. If you don’t win election, you can’t form government. Overconfidence, misunderstanding and feud within the party, made us, APC lost in 2019. So, let’s mend the past and join hands together, to interact, strategise and work for the success of our great party, APC.

APC Senatorial Chairman, in Oyo South, Hon. Mojeed Olaoya also gave notable remarks on “Youth Relationship with the Party” and he highlighted that,”There’s no party without its youths. A party is an organization, association or group with major objectives of winning election and enthrone governance, having various kinds of people with different opinions.

As a Veteran Student Union Leader and Youth Advocate, Hon. Olaoya reminisced and stated that there are different schools of thoughts on Party’s definition. He said,”In a school of thought,’A party is an organization formed and guided by constitution. It encompasses people of divergent opinions and interests. So, let’s harmonise our interests and work together as a formidable party to chase PDP away come 2023.

Based on his Afrocentric views on Youth broadband, Olaoya stated that,”Yoruba divided the human stages of life into three – morning, afternoon and evening.

He said that,”Ordinary youths are 18 years downward while potential youth are 18 upward. Also, the first stage of life is when you are a lad, the second stage of life is when you’re a youth while the third stage of life is when you become an elder.

Expatiating further, Olaoya said,”A man cannot stand in isolation from his fellow men. In any society like ours, youth have the highest numbers of population. We know that you, as youths, are strategically important. We know that you are irrevocably committed to the success of the party, and we shall not let you down.

“The reason you’re here today as we all know is to put our party in good shape. So, we greatly recognise you and your strengths. We know your worths and we want us all, both elders and youth, to strongly team up, together, to record landslide victory, come 2023.

“And on behalf of my amiable Chairman, Hon. Isaac Omodewu here sitting down and entire Oyo APC state executives, I can assure you that you shall not labour in vain and that you will surely be compensated.”Olaoya submitted

Youth stakeholders at the meeting took turns to speak and they respectively lamented that It saddens their hearts that youth’s participation has been mainly leveled to the social media activities, alone. 

They maintained that they have always been clamouring for youth’s inclusion in government and at the party level, as well.

Youth at the meeting reiterated that they want to be involved in policy and decision making as matters are concerned.

They stated that they remain loyal to the leadership of the party under the watch of Omodewu.” We are not saying we are snatching the steering activities from you sirs and mas but we demand more inclusion”. The youths also vowed to work for the landslide victory of the party, come 2023.

While appreciating the attendees, Oyo State APC Youth Leader, Comrade John Aremu Oyetunji lauded everyone and saluted courage, tenacity and sacrifice of Oyo APC Youth fold.

Oyetunji noted that,”In any party’s affairs, the interest of the party is supreme.

He appealed to the youth and said that,”Let’s prioritise our collective interests. Our personal interests should be the last. Please, let’s join hands together and let’s work together, as a formidable team, to achieve electoral success for our great party, across the board, come 2023.

Also, in attendance were Alhaji Olaide Abass, (Deputy Chairman), Alhaji Olanite, (Party Secretary),  Alhaja Tinu Adigun ( Women Leader), Chief Lekan Busari (Treasurer), Hon Atiku (Oyo Central Senatorial Chairman), Madam Taiwo, Mrs Tegbe, Alhaja Kudirat  Gbadamosi ( Deputy Women Leader), Mr Lekan Esho (Assistant Legal Adviser) and Hon Ogunleke Anthony (Party Chairman, Iseyin LG),

Others were Hon Titi Gbadamosi, Prince Adewale Aponmode, Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye, Hon Lateef Ologo, Comrade ‘Kunle Adesiyan, Hon. Muhammed Makinde, Comrade Seun, Hon.(Mrs) Tijani Latifat, Hon Olohuntoyin Isiaq, Comrade Tope Oye Alamu, Comrade Seun Tripple T, Comrade Olanrewaju Oloja and among other youth stakeholders.
