When Senator Dr. Yunus Abiodun Akintunde asked for the mandate of the good people of Oyo Central, he promised purposeful representation, quality legislation, empowerment and development.

LEGISLATION THAT WILL SHAPE THE FUTURE.
Senator Akintunde has sponsored bills aimed at transforming education and protecting vulnerable members of society, including:
- Federal University of Geomatics (Establishment) Bill — seeking to upgrade the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, to a university of international standard.
- Federal University of Education (Special), Oyo (Establishment) Bill — seeking to upgrade the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, to university status and strengthen special-needs education.
- Federal Polytechnic, Ayede (Establishment) Bill — promoting technical and vocational education in Oyo State.
- Mandatory Payment of Child Support by Biological Fathers Bill — protecting the welfare and future of children.
- Matrimonial Causes (Amendment) Bill — addressing important issues affecting families and matrimonial justice.
- Other legislative initiatives designed to improve the lives of Nigerians and strengthen institutions.
SPEAKING WHEN IT MATTERS.
Senator Akintunde has also used the Senate floor to speak on issues directly affecting ordinary Nigerians.
He moved a motion calling for the halt of the proposed electricity tariff increase, at a time Nigerians were already facing economic hardship.
He also appealed to resident doctors to suspend their nationwide industrial strike, putting the welfare of patients and uninterrupted healthcare delivery at the centre of the national conversation.
DEVELOPMENT BEYOND THE SENATE CHAMBER.
Representation is not only about speeches in Abuja.
It is about bringing development home.
From educational infrastructure and community projects to roads, drainage, lighting and other basic amenities, Senator Akintunde has continued to facilitate interventions across Oyo Central. Projects facilitated at the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, included lecture theatres, an administrative block, guidance and counselling facilities, roads and drainage infrastructure.
He has also championed the renovation and improvement of schools across the senatorial district.
