2027: Tijjaniyyah Movement Endorses Tinubu, Alli, Oseni Other APC Candidates
The entire population of a popular Muslim group, Al-Faedat Tijjaniyyah fil-Islam, has announced their support for the reelection bid of President Bola Tinubu as well as the adoption of Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli as their anointed candidate for the governorship seat of Oyo state in the 2027 general elections hinging the decision on the good performance of the President and the personal attributes which the standard bearers of the All Progressives Congress APC possess.
The endorsement of Alli was the high point of an emergency meeting organised by the leadership of the group on Thursday which held in Ibadan. The meeting, which featured lecture series and special prayer sessions for Nigeria, attracted hundreds of Tijjaniyyah Movement members drawn from the 33 local government councils in the state.
In his keynote address at the event, the coordinator of the movement in Oyo State, Alhaji Abdullateef Yeskuru Adewale, stated that the movement arrived at the decision to endorse President Tinubu and all the APC candidates in the state for the 2027 poll following the conclusion of months of consultations among the leadership of the group within and outside the country.
His words: “We have been approached by different individuals and parties for possible endorsement of their candidates but we knew we could not do anything without due consultation and divine guidance. So, what we are doing here today reflects the outcome of our consultations and prayers to Allah. We are absolutely sure that President Tinubu is the best man to lead Nigeria till 2031 and we shall do everything as a group which comprises more than 200,000 voters in the state to deliver all the candidates of the APC.
“All eminent Tijjaniyyah Muslim leaders including Alhaji AbdulSalam Adebolu, Khaleefah Salawudeen Tijani, Alhaji Thanni Olafimihan and others have constituted a team to consult widely on the path to toe as far as 2027 polls are concerned and I’m glad to announce today that we have endorsed all the APC candidates from President Tinubu to Sen. Alli to Hon. Oseni as well as other National and State Assembly candidates of the APC. They will get our massive votes and, by the grace of Allah, there is no going back on this.”
Sen. Alli, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the movement which he described as forerunners in terms of political awareness, peaceful conduct and tolerance in the society. “On behalf of President Tinubu and other candidates of the APC, I thank you for this show of love, affection and cooperation. We, at the APC assure you that every citizen of this great country, including religious groups, will get fair treatment as well as the right dose of good governance as you trust us with the mandate to lead at all spheres of public administration.”
The APC team was led to the meeting by the State Chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo while the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Adesoji Adedeji, and the candidate for the Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Aderemi Oseni were also in attendance. Others included; Hon. Fatai Adesina, Asiwaju Yemi Aderibigbe, Alhaji Shina Alabi, Dr. Kazeem Abimbola-Abogun, Alhaja Tinuade Adigun, Olawale Sadare and Alhaji Lateef Akinsanya.
