2027: Women Are Fully Ready – Says Ogunesan As Oyo North APC Senatorial Candidate Hails First Lady ‘Remi Tinubu, Pledges Support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

The Oyo North Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mrs. Hannah Olawumi Ogunesan, yesterday, warmly welcomed the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to Oyo State, where she was represented by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, at the inauguration of the Tinubu Torch Bearers (TTB), Oyo State Chapter, in Ibadan.

Ogunesan described the First Lady as “a mother whose compassion, courage and commitment continue to touch the lives of Nigerians.”

In her message of welcome, Ogunesan said the visit of the First Lady presented an opportunity for the women of Oyo State to celebrate a woman whose public service is deeply rooted in compassion, family values and a genuine desire to see Nigeria prosper.

She particularly commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her unwavering concern for women, children and vulnerable members of society, describing her interventions in these areas as a reflection of the heart of a mother who understands that the strength of any nation begins with the wellbeing of its families.

“Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is not only the First Lady of Nigeria; she is a mother to millions of Nigerian families. Her compassion for women and children, her concern for vulnerable Nigerians, and her passion for human development speak loudly about the kind of leader she is.”

According to Ogunesan, the First Lady’s commitment to national development goes beyond ceremonial responsibilities. She noted that her advocacy for women’s empowerment, education, healthcare, social investment and the wellbeing of children demonstrates a clear understanding that investing in people is the most sustainable investment any nation can make.

Ogunesan said,“A nation cannot rise above the strength of its families. When our women are empowered, our homes become stronger; when our children are protected and given opportunities, the future becomes brighter. This is why we deeply appreciate the work and commitment of our First Lady.”

OYO WOMEN ARE READY

Mrs. Ogunesan further declared that the massive presence and enthusiasm of APC women during the First Lady’s visit are clear indications of the political consciousness, organisation and readiness of women across Oyo State.

Ogunesan commended the Oyo State APC women’s leadership and all the women who turned out to welcome the First Lady, describing them as the heartbeat and grassroots strength of the party.

Ogunesan said the women of Oyo State are ready to take their rightful place in the political process and mobilise at the grassroots in support of the APC’s progressive agenda.

“Oyo women are ready. Our women are organised, determined and politically conscious. We understand the power of our votes, our voices and our mobilisation. From the cities to the villages, from the wards to the polling units, Oyo women will continue to be active participants in the journey toward a stronger Nigeria.”

Ogunesan also reaffirmed the commitment of Oyo APC women to the continued success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC, saying the women would continue to communicate the administration’s development agenda to the grassroots and mobilise support for the party’s candidates at the appropriate elections.

Ogunesan stressed, however, that political mobilisation must remain anchored on peace, unity, issue based engagement and respect for democratic values.

“We are not merely supporting a political party; we are supporting a vision of a stronger, more prosperous and more inclusive Nigeria. We believe in the Renewed Hope Agenda, and we will continue to take that message to our people with courage, conviction and humility.

A WOMAN-TO-WOMAN MOMENT

Mrs. Ogunesan described the First Lady’s interaction with the women of Oyo State as particularly significant, saying that moments such as these provide an opportunity for women to connect, share experiences and strengthen their collective resolve to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Ogunesan called on women across Oyo State to remain united and continue to demand greater participation in governance, leadership and decision making.

“The future cannot be built without women at the table. We must continue to encourage one another, lift one another and create opportunities for the next generation of Nigerian women.”

While wishing the First Lady a successful and memorable visit to Oyo State, Mrs. Ogunesan expressed confidence that the renewed engagement between the First Lady and the women of Oyo would further strengthen the bonds of unity, service and shared commitment to national development.
