Presidential Primaries – Group Kicks Against Consensus Candidacy • APC Must Uphold Tenets of Internal Democracy – TLF BoT Chair, Alh Akeem Reiterates.
Tinubu Legacy Forum(TLF), a frontline socio-political organization, mobilizing supports for the presidential agenda of former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has kicked against consensus arrangements as the mode of primary to be adopted by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress(APC), ahead of their forthcoming presidential primaries.
Chairman, Board of Trustees(BoT) of TLF, Alhaji Ganiyu Akeem stated this in a media chat with journalists, on Wednesday, in Ibadan.
Akeem noted that the consensus mode of primary might foist, on APC, an unpopular candidate, that might not have widespread acceptance and wherewithal to face the general elections.
“APC is a progressive party that, strongly, has firm belief in internal democracy and popular voices, to be heard. On this premise, I want to appeal to the leadership of our great party, APC to allow elective presidential primaries to take place. This will not only make rank and file of our great party to participate and feel involved in this sensitive APC affair, but it will also help our presidential aspirants to test their popularity, internally, before picking one, democratically, to go out and face general elections, in 2023, squarely. We must uphold tenets of internal democracy,” he reiterated.
Akeem described President Buhari as a true defender of democratic tenets and encouraged him, as the leader of the party, to reprove that, on the matter, by prevailing on APC hierarchies, to allow internal democracy to reign supreme during presidential primaries.
Akeem saluted the National Chairman of APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu for trying his best to strengthen the ruling party, since he has attained the party’s mantle of leadership. He encouraged Adamu to also join hands with Mr President, as the leader of the party, to have elective presidential primaries.
While mustering supports for Asiwaju Tinubu’s presidential bid, Akeem reiterated that,“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a born and great leader who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. He is tested and trusted. He has efficiently managed the affairs of Lagos state and effectively led progressive party to victories at all levels. BAT is a detribalized Nigerian who treats men equally, irrespective, of their creed or colour. BAT is the best man for the presidential job, come 2023.
“Let’s shun needless enmity and unhealthy politiking. Let’s join hands together to fix Nigeria. Let’s support the best man for the job. ‘ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU’ is the answer, come 2023 and he will definitely reposition Nigeria. Let’s go there”,Akeem canvassed.
