CHILDREN’S DAY: Message of Hope and Solidarity | By Hon Bimbo Kolade

My dear children of Oyo State and Nigeria,

On this special occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, I extend my warmest love, prayers, and heartfelt wishes to every child across our dear state and nation. Today is a day set aside to celebrate your dreams, your innocence, your talents, and the bright future that you represent for Nigeria.

Though, this year’s celebration comes with heavy hearts as we reflect on the painful kidnapping of school children from three communities in Oyo State. This unfortunate incident has brought fear, sorrow, and anxiety to many families and communities.

As a father and leader, I deeply sympathise with the affected children, parents, teachers, and entire communities during this difficult time.

To our dear children who are affected directly or indirectly by these tragic events, I want you to know that you are not alone. We stand with you in solidarity, and we remain committed as a people to protecting your future, your education, and your right to live without fear.
You are the heartbeat of every society. No child should be denied the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream because of insecurity or violence. We must therefore continue to work together — government, traditional institutions, security agencies, religious leaders, parents, and community stakeholders — to ensure that our schools and communities remain safe havens for learning and development.

To parents and guardians, this is a time for unity, vigilance, and renewed commitment to the protection and nurturing of our children. Let us continue to support them emotionally, morally, and spiritually.

As we celebrate Children’s Day today, let it also serve as a call to action for all leaders and citizens to prioritise the safety, welfare, education, and wellbeing of every Nigerian child.

May God protect our children, comfort affected families, and restore peace and security to Oyo State and Nigeria.

Happy Children’s Day to all our beloved children.

Hon. Bimbo Kolade FNIoB,
Federal Commissioner, RMFAC. President, NIoB.
