Nigeria At 66: Pacesetter Peace Team advocates” Practical Spiritual Approach” to problems facing Nigeria

The Pacesetter Peace Team (PPT), a group working for peace in Oyo State, has called on leaders in Nigeria to consider adopting a practical spiritual approach to resolving all problems confronting the country.

This advice was contained in a press statement signed by the Chairman of the team, Hon. (Barr.) Adeniji Ademola, and made available to newsmen by Hon. Dauda Kolawole, the PRO of the team, to mark the 66th Independence celebration of the country.

The statement observed that the challenges facing the country started with the 1914 amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates into a single country.

“The challenges of insecurity, disease, poverty, violent crime, war, pollution, possible ecological collapse, and a lack of real leadership and collective vision started with the 1914 amalgamation by Lord Lugard.”

“The amalgamation that was based not only on geographical features alone but also majorly on spiritual consideration.was not completely understood by some of the founding fathers. Many of the leadership lacked the essential knowledge about the amalgamation.”

“Only the leadership of the Western part of the country who seems to understood this fact administered the region successfully before the unitary government of the Military came to destroy the achievement recorded.”

“The country has since being administered based on mere physical needs, abandoning the spiritual needs which is the major needs of the country which ultimately led to the present moral decadency and mental rut in the society.”
.
Appreciating the efforts of the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in tackling the crisis, the statement observed that the removal of fuel subsidy, Forex liberalization, Nelfund, among others. as mere policy-based solutions that cannot permanently resolve the crisis facing the country.

The group wished the entire citizens a happy independence celebration noting that world crisis is rooted in spiritual deficiency that calls for a different new approach – “a practical spiritual approach”.
