Ogbomoso North: Crisis Looms in Oyo APC As Party Faithful Cry Out over ‘Unjust’ Removal of Secretary

Fresh wave of internal grievance has hit the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as an ‘extraordinarily committed’ party member, Alabi Tunji Michael, has petitioned the state leadership of the party over what he described as an unjust removal from his position as the consensus party secretary of Ogbomoso North Local Government after an initial petition yet to be addressed by the party leadership, InsideOut Media Hub reported.

The newspaper’s sources find out that in a formal petition addressed to the Oyo APC State Chairman, Moses Adeyemo Alake, Alabi, popularly known as ATM, alleged that his name was unlawfully removed despite being duly agreed upon and unanimously adopted by party leaders and stakeholders during the Local Government Congress held on February 21, 2026.

The document as sighted by the newspaper’s correspondence and fact-checked by this reporter, the petitioner stated that the list of executives, including his nomination as Secretary, was collectively endorsed and signed by key stakeholders, including Sunday Dare, Akin Oke, Abdulfatai Omotayo Buhari, Hon. Olamiju Alao Akala, alongside other party leaders present at the APC Party Office in Apake, Ogbomoso.

According to the documents, the positions were fairly distributed among leaders, with the slot for Party Secretary specifically allotted to the camp of Senator Buhari, under which the name was submitted and publicly announced at the local government congress on the 21st February, 2026 at the Independence Avenue, Boode Eniafe, Masifa area.

Alabi, however, expressed shock that his name was later unjustly replaced describing the development as undemocratic and capable of undermining party unity in the local government.

The report further alleged that certain individuals were attempting to distort the consensus arrangement and tarnish the integrity of respected leaders, particularly Akin Oke, by falsely attributing the controversial changes to him.

“This action negates the principles of justice, equity, and fairness which our party stands for,” the petitioner noted, warning that unresolved internal disputes could reopen old wounds that previously affected the party’s electoral fortunes.

Alabi emphasised his longstanding contributions to the party, highlighting his roles in media and publicity during the 2023 general elections, the 2024 local government elections, and other major political engagements within Ogbomoso zone.

Alabi has therefore called on the Oyo APC leadership to urgently intervene, investigate the anomaly, and restore his name as the duly recognised consensus Party Secretary in line with the agreement reached and signed by all stakeholders.

The petition, which has also been copied to key party leaders and relevant authorities including INEC, DSS, and the Nigeria Police, underscores growing concerns over internal party democracy and the need for transparent conflict resolution mechanisms within the Oyo APC.

It was also gathered that the executive meeting of the party at the party office, Apake in Ogbomoso today could not hold as party members across the 10 wards in the local government came with placards to show the unlawful and unjust removal of Alabi Tunji Michael as the duly chosen consensus party Secretary of the party in the local government.

The aggrieved members threatened to disrupt any of the executive members of the party until justice prevailed.

According to our source and with the document at the newspaper’s disposal, Alabi Tunji Michael today wrote a letter  of displeasure to the chairman of the party in the local government, Alhaji Rasheed Adesoji Badmus, citing non- challant and undemocratic attitudes of the leaders of the party while unequivocally demanding justice to prevail on the matter
