In the statement dated 17/09/2026, the duo said they were misled into attending the meeting. According to them, the invitation they received was titled “Invitation to the APC Central Progressive Conference,” which they understood to be a gathering of APC elders and leaders for legitimate party engagement.

The Disclaimer reads:”DISCLAIMER AND DISSOCIATION FROM THE COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AFTER THE APC CENTRAL PROGRESSIVE CONFERENCE

TO: THE STATE CHAIRMAN, ALL MEMBERS OF THE OYO STATE APC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, LOCAL GOVERNMENT PARTY EXECUTIVES, PARTY LEADERS, STAKEHOLDERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC

We, Reverend Bayo Olayode (PhD) and Pa James Adesokan, both prominent leaders and elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, hereby make this DISCLAIMER to clarify our position concerning the today’s (17/09/2026) meeting described as the APC Central Progressive Conference and the communiqué subsequently issued and circulated in the public domain and on various social media platforms.
We wish to state categorically that we were misled into attending the said meeting. The invitation extended to us was titled “Invitation to the APC Central Progressive Conference.” In view of the wording and nature of the invitation, we reasonably understood that the meeting was a gathering of elders and leaders of the APC, and we therefore attended in good faith and in the belief that we were participating in a legitimate party engagement.

Our understanding was further reinforced by the person who conveyed the invitation to us, who informed us that the meeting was expected to be attended by leaders and elders of the APC from across Oyo State. One of our sons who informed us about the meeting did not give full details about the meeting. This representation created the impression that the meeting was a broad-based consultation of party leaders and elders. We consequently attended without any knowledge that our presence could subsequently be interpreted as an endorsement of any particular position, resolution or communiqué.

We therefore wish to state, in the clearest and strongest terms, that we did not author, endorse, approve or mandate the communiqué subsequently issued in connection with the meeting. We hereby completely dissociate ourselves from the said communiqué and from any statement, resolution or position contained therein which may be attributed to us.

For the avoidance of doubt, our attendance at the meeting must not and should not be construed as our support for, consent to, or endorsement of the communiqué. We attended based on the information supplied to us concerning the nature and purpose of the meeting.
We wish to further place it on record that we are not against the All Progressives Congress (APC) at any level. We remain loyal members and stakeholders of the party and continue to respect the constituted organs, leadership and legitimate decisions of the APC. We abide by decisions already taken by the party and have no intention whatsoever of undermining the unity, stability or electoral prospects of the party.

In particular, we wish to reaffirm our unflinching support for the APC gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, the Distinguished Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli. We unequivocally support his candidature and are committed to working for his success at the 2027 gubernatorial election.

We further wish to assure the party leadership and the Distinguished Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli that the APC family in Iwajowa Local Government Area remains solidly behind his candidature. We are committed to mobilising and working with all party members, leaders, elders, women and youths towards the success of the APC and the victory of our candidates at the forthcoming elections.

Accordingly, we hereby formally and unequivocally dissociate ourselves from the communiqué issued and circulated following the said meeting, and we shall not be held responsible for any statement, position, resolution or implication contained therein.

This disclaimer is made in good faith and in the interest of truth, transparency, party unity and the continued progress of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State.
The State Chairman, members of the Oyo State APC Executive Committee, Local Government Executive Committee, party leaders and stakeholders, as well as the general public, are hereby duly notified.
We remain committed to the unity and success of the All Progressives Congress.
Long live the All Progressives Congress.
Long live Oyo State.

Long live Iwajowa Local Government.
