The 2024 councillorship candidates under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have on Tuesday, April 14, paid a solidarity visit to the State Working Committee of APC at the party’s permanent secretariat, Oke-Ado, in Ibadan.

The Coordinator and Secretary of the Oyo APC 2024 Councillorship Forum, Hon. Sanusi Al-Miskeen, and Hon. Saheed Tiamiyu, popularly known as ST, unanimously congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and highlighted the successes and achievements of the forum, such as the restoration of the glory of the party after the 2023 Gubernatorial and State Assembly Election that plunged the party into opposition and mobilising for 2025. Bye-election campaign in Ibadan North Federal Constituency across all the 12 wards, active participation for Solidarity Walk for Member, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Shittu; mobilising for party membership e-registration and Permanent Voters Card registration, which will come to an end in a few days.

“We are ready to lead the party campaign at the grassroots to dislodge PDP in our dear state. We progressively solicit for considering us again for our mandate, which was stolen by the ruling PDP.

The representatives of the forum across the geopolitical zones in the state, Hon. Morakinyo Samson Oluwaseyi (Oyo), Hon. Salaudeen Muniru (Ogbomoso), Hon. Olanrewaju Yusuf Adeleke (Oke-Ogun), Hon. Jumoke Oyeyemi (Ibadan), and Hon. Atunuja Oluwasegun Samson (Ibarapa), respectively, commended Alake-Adeyemo-led executives in their efforts to bring back APC to Agodi Government House. They emphasised that part of their solidarity visit to the party leadership is to work and mobilise for the re-election of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and work for the success of the party in 2027 Gubernatorial and House of Assembly and National Assembly elections, reclaiming their stolen mandate as one of the major assets to the party’s success in any election.

The representatives appealed to the state party chairman to find a lasting solution to the non-recognition and sidelining of their members in the decision-making at the grassroots, maintaining they are the pillars of the party and the most outstanding progressive grassroots mobilisers in the history of the party. “We have stood by the party at any trying time; we are deeply committed to strengthening the party and to the success of the party across all levels,” they emphasised.

The state youth leader of the party, Hon. Olalekan Glory, in his remarks, noted that he has been following the commitment of the Forum regarding the stability of the party. “Your forum remains one of the most relevant across the state, and it remains the only structure to reckon with before, during, and after the elections. It is always ready to lead the party. We have a long way to go and have a lot to do across every zone. I am ready to work with your forum, and your cooperation is highly needed. I appreciate your support for the current leadership of the party,” he added.

The State Party Secretary, Hon. Fatai Adeshina, hinted at the forum that Adeyemo bagged his PhD on April 9, which prompted the delegates to shower more encomium on the party chairman. He observed a prayer for the deceased among members of the forum. He recalled that the 2024 candidates have been standing with the party despite all odds.

Adeshina encouraged the party faithful to take up the responsibility both online and offline, saying the struggles to reclaim Oyo have just begun.

Mentoring the stalwarts, Adeshina used the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s theory, hinting that God divides humans into three aspects, which are physical, intellectual, and spiritual. The former is 60 per cent, while the latter, spirituality, is 40 per cent, using Awo’s theory to encourage the faithful not to relent in their efforts to reclaim their mandate. He encouraged the stakeholders to attend ward meetings frequently and remain loyal to the party. “We are ready to work with your forum,” he assured

Reacting to the comments, Chief Moses Alake-Adeyemo, Ph.D., stated that “I’m happy that you’re 100 per cent loyal to the party, and God will reclaim your mandate for you. Whoever is deeply committed will succeed. Let’s work harder across our constituencies and wards so that our party will coast home to victory. I knew what happened in 2024; as you’re preparing now, this is your time. The coast is clear for APC ahead of the 2027 elections in the state. Put more effort, be advocating for party unity, and ensure that you settle all differences with the aggrieved, as everyone is important,” he emphasised.

Also in attendance were Hon. Olalekan Olowe (Oyo South Senatorial Youth Leader), Hon. Adeagbo Saheed, Hon. Kola Amoo, and several others.
