Oyo APC:”You’re Showing Your Hand too Early” – Group Counsels Akala

Oyo APC: “You’re Showing Your Hand too Early” – Group Counsels Akala.

A youth group, within the All Progressives Congress(APC), in Oyo State, has counseled former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala to conduct himself as an elderly statesman in the party rather than being the campaign manager to a gubernatorial aspirant.

The group made the statement after the former Governor entered into  another controversy over the appointment of a zoning committee by his “Elders Advisory Committee.”

Governor Akala in his response to the dismissal of the constitution of the committee by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Chief Sunday Dare and the  Unity Forum had argued that they were giving undue advantage to Senator Teslim Folarin.

He also stated that Folarin has been making consultations while the other aspirants are lazy.

The group known as “Conscience of APC Youths in Oyo State(CAYO)”, in statement respectively signed by their spokespersons, Comrade Muniru Adisa and Miss Folasade Adigun noted that the choice of words by Governor Akala rather than showing him as being impartial only further portraying  him as being biased and sold to the candidature of Folarin.

“The choice of words by Governor Akala only worsens the situation rather than removing the suspicion  that he’s working for Folarin. As an elder who craves the acceptance of all party members, he should distance himself from Folarin’s campaign. In the alternative, he should publicly admit that he’s the patron of Folarin, so, that other members of the party will know where to place him.

“This is not the first time the allegation have been made yet at every turn, the hands of Governor Akala are evident in the campaign of Folarin, including the now open secret has been well known that his son has been slated to be running mate to Folarin.

“Governor Akala has every right to support a candidate of his choice  moreso when his son is on the ticket as running mate to that candidate. What is unacceptable is the claim to the leadership of the party that will make him an arbiter in a case in which he’s an interested party.

“We call on Governor Akala to make his choice on what role he wishes to play in the APC, so, that the party can be at peace.”.

“Every political party or indeed any human organisation needs men of conscience who will intervene when necessary to check excesses that may derail it from its purpose”.
