Oyo FCC Boss,”ALESHINLOYE”, Welcomes Progressive Governors, 774 LGA:s to National Workshop

•FCC, PROGRESSIVE GOVERNORS’ FORUM TO CONVENE 774 LGAs AT NATIONAL WORKSHOP IN ABUJA.
The Federal Character Commission (FCC), under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, in conjunction with the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), is set to convene representatives of all 774 Local Government Areas across Nigeria at a landmark National Workshop scheduled to hold on 24 and 25 August 2026 at the Tropic Galleria, Abuja.
The workshop, themed “Deepening National Unity Through Grassroots Implementation Of The Federal Character Principle,” is designed to deepen conversations on equitable development, strengthen grassroots governance and promote a fairer distribution of socio-economic amenities and infrastructure across the country.
Speaking on the significance of the workshop, the Oyo State Federal Commissioner of the Federal Character Commission, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, MDII, who is also the Chairman planning committee of the workshop warmly welcomed all delegates to the national gathering. He encouraged all the 774 Local Government Executive Chairmen to actively participate in the programme.

The Chairman of the planning committee noted that the success of the workshop should not be measured merely by the quality of discussions in Abuja, but by the extent to which its outcomes and benefits trickle down to the grassroots, where the majority of Nigerians reside.
According to Aleshinloye, the participation of Local Government Chairmen is crucial because they remain the closest tier of government to the people and are strategically positioned to identify grassroots needs, implement development initiatives and ensure that socio-economic amenities and infrastructure reach communities in a fair and equitable manner.
Aleshinloye further stressed that the workshop provides an important platform for Local Government leaders to share experiences, exchange ideas and develop practical strategies for improving grassroots governance, infrastructure delivery and equitable development.
The Oyo State Federal Commissioner commended the leadership of the Federal Character Commission under Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran for championing initiatives that promote fairness, equity and inclusive development across Nigeria.
Aleshinloye therefore urged all Local Government Executive Chairmen to seize the opportunity presented by the National Workshop and contribute meaningfully to the deliberations, stressing that “the real impact of governance is felt at the grassroots.”
The Federal Character Commission remains committed to advancing its constitutional mandate of promoting fairness, equity and inclusiveness in the distribution of socio-economic opportunities and development across Nigeria.
