Transition: Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi, is dead
Alabi, a veteran journalist and former multiple press secretary to past Oyo State governors, died yesterday in Lagos at the age of 76, Nigerian Tribune reported.
His death was announced in a statement issued by the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adeola Oloko.
“The veteran journalist and multiple press secretary to former Oyo State Governors, Lekan Alabi, is dead. The Abese Olubadan passed away this morning in Lagos at the age of 76 years,” the statement read.
According to family sources, the late Ibadan chief will be buried on Saturday in accordance with Islamic rites.
Chief Alabi was widely respected for his contributions to journalism, public service and the traditional institution in Ibadanland.
