A Message of Gratitude, Reflection, and Renewed Hope | By Hon Oke-Aree Aina

To My Dear Family, Friends, Supporters, Esteemed Constituents, and the Good People of Oyo State,
With a heart filled with mixed emotions, I write to you today following the outcome of the process to secure the party ticket to contest for the Oluyole State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly. This is not the outcome we prayed for, worked towards, or collectively anticipated. I will not pretend that it does not hurt. It does, especially considering the sacrifices, commitment, resources, time, and tremendous efforts invested in this journey. Nevertheless, in all things, I acknowledge that God remains the ultimate giver of opportunities, and His wisdom is greater than our understanding.

To my beloved family, friends, supporters, loyal associates, and every constituent who stood firmly behind me, I say a heartfelt “THANK YOU”. Your encouragement, prayers, sacrifices, contributions, loyalty, and confidence in my aspiration have meant more to me than words can adequately express. You believed in a vision, supported a cause, and invested your hope in the possibility of a better representation for our people. I do not take any of these gestures for granted. Whatever the outcome of this process, your love and support remain invaluable, and I will forever be grateful for the confidence you have placed in me.
Let me make one thing abundantly clear: WE DID NOT LOSE! We participated in a political process, presented our aspiration, mobilised our people, and demonstrated that our vision resonated with a significant number of party members and supporters. The party leadership has made its choice, even though that choice does not reflect what we believe to have been the preference of the majority. We must acknowledge the reality of that decision, but we must equally be honest about the disappointment it has caused. The fact that a ticket has been awarded to another person does not erase our efforts, invalidate the support we received, or diminish the legitimacy of the hopes and expectations we built together.

Politics, unfortunately, does not always produce outcomes that reflect the wishes of the majority. Sometimes, decisions are made at the leadership level that differ from the expectations of the people who have worked, mobilised, and invested their confidence in a particular aspiration. While I respect the party as an institution and recognise the decisions made by its leadership, I believe that the voices, sacrifices, and preferences of party members and the grassroots deserve serious consideration. Our experience should serve as a reminder that a stronger party is built not merely by announcing decisions, but by listening to its people, respecting their choices, and creating a sense of belonging for every committed member.
To my supporters who feel disappointed, hurt, or even betrayed by this outcome, I appeal to you: PLEASE DO NOT LOSE HOPE. Do not allow today’s disappointment to destroy tomorrow’s possibilities. Do not allow one political decision to diminish your belief in our collective capacity to make a difference. Our aspiration was never supposed to be about a ticket alone; it was about service, representation, development, opportunity, and a better future for our people. These ideals remain alive, and our commitment to them must not be abandoned because the path has taken an unexpected turn.
To the good people of Oluyole and the wider Oyo State, I assure you that this outcome will not make me turn my back on the people, the relationships we have built, or the responsibilities that come with leadership. Public service is bigger than a political ticket, and the desire to contribute to the development of our communities must be greater than any individual disappointment. I remain committed to constructive engagement, the welfare of our people, and the pursuit of a political environment where fairness, inclusion, competence, and the genuine wishes of the grassroots receive the attention they deserve.
As we move forward, I ask that we remain calm, united, focused, and hopeful. Let us not allow disappointment to push us into unnecessary hostility or division. We can express our concerns with courage while preserving our dignity. We can disagree with decisions without losing sight of the bigger picture. And we can accept the reality of today without surrendering our dreams for tomorrow. I hold no intention of allowing this experience to define the limits of what we can achieve together. Rather, I choose to see it as a moment for reflection, renewed strength, and a deeper understanding of the journey ahead.
Finally, I submit everything to Almighty God, whose plans are beyond human calculations. Perhaps the road we envisioned is not the road He has chosen for us at this moment. I may not fully understand today’s outcome, but I will not allow it to extinguish my faith in God, my confidence in the people, or my belief in the future. To everyone who stood with me, please remember that a denied ticket is not a denied destiny, and a delayed opportunity is not the end of a worthy journey.
We may not have secured the ticket, but we have not lost our values, our dignity, our relationships, our voice, or our hope. The journey continues, the vision remains, and better days are still ahead.
May God comfort every disappointed heart, reward every sacrifice, strengthen our resolve, and guide us towards a brighter future.
With gratitude, humility, and unwavering hope,
Hon. Oke-Aree Aina,
Oluyole State Constituency, Oyo State.
