ORIIRE: Senator Buhari Hails Tinubu, Makinde, Security Agencies over Abductees’ Rescue

Senator Buhari Abdulfatai Omotayo, Ph.D, representing Oyo North Senatorial District has expressed profound relief and gratitude following the release of the Oriire abductees, describing their freedom as a victory for the people and for Nigeria’s security architecture.
In a statement issued this evening July 10th, 2026, the Senator said the successful release was made possible by the steadfast dedication and coordinated efforts of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde, working in collaboration with Nigeria’s security agencies.

“On behalf of the good people of Oyo North particularly Oriire local government, I thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decisive leadership and prompt directives that ensured no stone was left unturned in securing the release of our children and their teachers,” Senator Buhari stated.

The Senator also commended Governor Makinde for his hands-on approach, constant engagement with stakeholders, and for providing the necessary support at the state level throughout the period of the ordeal.
Senator Buhari specifically lauded the Nigerian Army, DSS and the Nigeria Police Force for their bravery, professionalism and sacrifice.
“The officers on the ground displayed patriotism and resilience. Their commitment in the bush, on the highways, and in intelligence gathering led to this successful outcome,” he added.
The lawmaker rejoiced with the families of the victims, noting that the period of uncertainty was painful for the entire senatorial district., Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
He urged the families to remain strong and to continue to support one another as the victims begin their recovery process.
Senator Buhari prayed for sound health and quick restoration for all the victims, saying government and relevant agencies will continue to monitor their wellbeing.
“This is not the end. The victims will receive further government attention, medical support and psychosocial care to help them fully reintegrate into society,” he assured.
Buhari called on residents of Oyo North to remain vigilant and to continue cooperating with security agencies.
The Senator reaffirmed his commitment to working with the federal and state governments to strengthen security and ensure that such incidents do not reoccur in any part of the district.
