Prince Isiaka Ajibola Salawu-Areokuta: 29 Years of Loyalty, Competence, and Grassroots Service for Ibadan North East/South East 2027

As the All Progressives Congress, Oyo State Chapter, prepares for the 2027 General Elections, the call for competence over opportunistic zoning finds clear expression in one aspirant: Prince Isiaka Ajibola Salawu-Areokuta, an illustrious son of the Ibadan North East LGA and Mogaji of the Ogidi-Areokuta Royal Dynasty.
A Lifetime of Progressive Service.
Born January 1, 1971, into a family of dedicated politicians, Prince Salawu-Areokuta’s commitment to service is both inherited and proven. For nearly three decades he has stood firmly within Nigeria’s progressive movement — AD, ACN, ANPP, and now the APC. His leadership record is unmatched: Two-term APC Oyo State Youth Leader during the tenure of H.E. Adams Oshiomhole; Caretaker APC Youth Leader for all 17 Southern States under H.E. Mai Mala Buni; and National Youth Director, Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council, during the 2023 General Elections.

Prince Salawu-Areokuta’s political journey also reflects sacrifice for party unity. He stepped down from his State Assembly aspirations in 2002 (AD), 2010 (ACN), and 2014 (APC) and his Council Chairmanship bid in 2007 (ANPP) under the late Gov. Ajimobi to support contemporaries and preserve party cohesion. After 12 consecutive years of representation by Ibadan South East, he now offers Ibadan North East a candidate with equity, experience, and grassroots reach.

Competence Backed by Global Training and Local Enterprise
Prince Salawu-Areokuta pairs political experience with strong academic and professional credentials: HND, Banking & Finance, Lagos State Polytechnic; PGD, Public Administration and Management, University of Worcester, UK; and MSc, Finance and Management, University of Texas at Austin, USA.
As a business leader, he is Chief Executive Officer of Areokuta Alsports & Gas International Limited and Areokuta Logistics and a Certified FIFA Licensed Players Agent & Marketer. This blend of public administration, finance, and sports diplomacy gives him the strategic leadership and global perspective needed for effective representation at the National Assembly.
16 Years of Measurable Community Investment
Philanthropy is not a campaign slogan for Prince Salawu-Areokuta; it is a 16-year record:
•Food & Energy Security: Cooking gas to 2,000+ people and foodstuffs to 3,000+ beneficiaries every festive season for 10+ years.
•Infrastructure: Tap water in four communities; solar street lights installed and maintained across the district for 3 years; construction of a bridge serving six communities in Ibadan.
•Education & Youth: WAEC fees for 50 students annually for a decade; sponsorship of sports events to discover talent; and the establishment of “Areokuta Sports Houses” in about 10 secondary schools, making Areokuta an indigenous, trusted name in Ibadan North East.

Vision for Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency.
Ibadan North East/South East is one of Ibadan’s most densely populated hubs, filled with vibrant youth who lack adequate federal intervention. Prince Salawu-Areokuta’s legislative agenda is designed to bridge that gap and bring “Renewed Hope” closer to the grassroots:
•Human Capital Development: Establishing tech and entrepreneurship hubs to deliver professional training and vocational skills.
•Economic Empowerment: Providing structured startup capital for market women and men to revive local commerce.
•Social Rehabilitation: Implementing targeted youth programmes and sensitising families on meaningful upbringing for a better future.
•Legislative Advocacy: Using the office of a federal representative to sponsor laws that bring direct, tangible federal benefits to Oyo State and Nigeria.
Prince Salawu-Areokuta’s mission: moving dividends of democracy from the grass tops to the grassroots and transitioning youth “from the streets to becoming successful CEOs and entrepreneurs.
•The Competence Argument
At a time when groups like ‘Egbe Ajosepo fun Itesiwaju Gbogbo Wa’ are demanding ‘competence, not sectional zoning’ in Oyo APC, Prince Salawu-Areokuta represents both. He is Ibadan North East by birth and service, but his agenda is pan-constituency.
Equity demands North East representation — not as entitlement, but as earned competence.
A Candidate Ready to Deliver.
From Ward 3, Ibadan North East LGA, Mogaji Isiaka Ajibola Salawu-Areokuta has formally declared his intent to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency under the APC.
Prince Salawu-Areokuta brings 29 years of loyalty, 16 years of giving, global training, and a clear blueprint for development. For party leaders, delegates, and the people of Ibadan North East/South East, he offers the experience, unity, and grassroots connection needed to secure victory for APC and deliver for the constituency in 2027.
