Tinubu begins three-week leave, departs for Europe

… Makes London first stop

… To return ahead of January 2027 election campaign

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on today (Sunday) for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave, The Nation Newspapers reported.

The Presidency, which announced the trip in a statement on Sunday, said the President’s first stop would be London, United Kingdom.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu would undertake a working vacation during the three-week period.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.

“His first stop will be London, United Kingdom” the statement said.

According to the Presidency, the President is expected back in Nigeria at the end of the vacation, when he will return to domestic political engagements ahead of the January 2027 election.

“President Tinubu is expected to return home after the working vacation to join the hectic campaign for the January 2027 election”, Onanuga said.

The statement did not disclose other European destinations the President may visit after London or specify the exact date of his return.

Tinubu’s departure comes as political activities intensify ahead of the January 2027 election, with political parties and candidates stepping up preparations for the contest.

The President is expected to resume his official and political engagements upon his return from the three-week leave.
