Ogbomoso Zone APC Is Comfortable with the Deputy Governor Position – Concerned Stakeholders
The Concern APC leaders and Stakeholders in Ogbomoso Zone willingly express our resolve to support the position of the APC Oyo State Working Committee that allocates the position of Deputy Governor to Ogbomoso zone. Over the years, the Deputy Governor position has been held by Oke-Ogun axis since 2011 till 2027 which will make it sixteen uninterrupted years while the Senate seat has been in the Ogbomoso zone for almost twelve interrupted years.
Ogbomoso APC leaders and Stakeholders are not against the ambition of anyone who desires to contest for the Senatorial seat from Ogbomoso Zone but the forum will not trade the position of the Deputy Governor for a Senate seat which the Zone has held for uninterrupted twelve years.
It is incumbent on the progressive minded Party leaders, contestants and members to avoid any act that is capable of causing instability within the Party by not showing strong commitment to the sharing formula of positions and Offices by the State Working Committee of our great Party.
The APC leaders and Stakeholders in Ogbomoso Zone have willingly agreed to support any Senatorial candidate that emerged from our Party from Oke-Ogun axis while the Oke-Ogun Party faithful are expected to reciprocate the gesture by supporting the Deputy Governor candidate from Ogbomoso Zone.
The forum appeals to the leadership of the APC in the State not to change the already agreed sharing formula despite the underground efforts of some people to thwart the already agreed status quo,the inhabitants of Ogbomoso are longing to hold the position of the Deputy Governor which the Zone held last during the era of late Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala between 2003 to 2007.
The right to seek for elective Offices is a constitutional right which every one is entitled to but the interest of the larger society will not be traded for personal convenience. The forum will not accept any attempt to trade the Deputy governorship position for the Senatorial seat, the good people of Ogbomoso land have openly expressed their desire to have the Deputy governornship position in Ogbomoso and nothing will change that position.
Ogbomoso APC leaders and Stakeholders Forum continue to promote unity and peace within the party, the forum will not succumb to the political manipulation of a few opportunists.
The leadership of the APC in the State should not be cowed nor intimidated by those who seek to cause disaffection between Ogbomoso and Oke-Ogun people by not abiding by the agreement of exchanging Senate and Deputy Governor positions during each cycle of election.
