Tinubu to launch Buhari tribute book at first anniversary memorial

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other dignitaries will gather in Abuja on July 13 for the launch of a global book of tributes marking the first anniversary of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, on Wednesday unveiled the programme of events planned to honour the late Nigerian leader.
Speaking on behalf of the Central Planning Committee, Mustapha said the commemoration would feature interfaith prayers and the public presentation of a book of tributes by President Tinubu.

He explained that the late former president, who died on July 13 last year at the age of 82, would be remembered through activities reflecting the values he upheld throughout his life and public service.

“The programme will consist principally of interfaith and interdenominational prayers, reflecting the values of unity, faith and national cohesion that he upheld throughout his life and his service to our country,” Mustapha said.
He added that the memorial would bring together Buhari’s family, friends, associates, public officials and other well-wishers to celebrate his life and offer prayers for the repose of his soul.
A major highlight of the anniversary programme will be the public presentation of a book titled, “Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Mustapha, the publication contains reflections and condolence messages from world leaders, diplomats and political figures who interacted with the late former president.
“In its pages, the global community, including heads of state, diplomats, and political leaders, remembered the late President as a man of simplicity, resilience, and integrity,” Mustapha said. He further clarified that the publication is strictly a historical record, stating, “I should add that the book is neither for sale nor for fundraising. It is for free distribution.
Beyond the prayers and the book presentation, the event will offer an opportunity for those who shared the corridors of power with the late President to provide firsthand accounts of his governance style and personality.
Mustapha revealed that “a select number of individuals who worked closely with the late President will speak to his historical legacy and share their personal experiences of him.”
The committee expressed optimism that the first anniversary would provide solace to those grieving the late leader while galvanizing Nigerians around his vision of public service.
Our hope is that the occasion will not only honour the memory of the late President, but also serve as a source of comfort and encouragement to his family, his friends, his admirers, and the entire people of this country who continue to cherish his worthy legacy of service to the nation,” Mustapha added.
He then called on the media and the general public to foster national unity during the remembrance period, urging Nigerians “to pray, individually and in congregation, in all our places of worship, for the repose of his soul.
